Worth School Spencer Building, Sixth Form Centre & Library
Completion: 2022
Location: Worth, West Sussex
Tim Ronalds Architects won the commission to design a new £6.25M Sixth Form Centre for Worth School, a Catholic and Benedictine school in West Sussex, in 2019. The new building includes a library and multi-purpose hall, as well as social and study spaces for the school’s growing Sixth Form. The scheme incorporates a new landscaped quad at the heart of the school which gives cohesion and focus to the surrounding teaching buildings.
“This is a very Benedictine building. Its beauty comes from balance and proportion, simplicity and spaciousness, and the way it draws the eye out to the landscapes beyond.”
“From the moment it opened, the students naturally settled to calm industry, energetic collaboration and happy sociability.”
“The light, acoustics and materials all come together to create spaces which are inspiring, energising and uplifting.”
“Everyone loves our new library. As a result more people are borrowing books than when we had our old library!”
“The designers’ control over of the delivery of the concept has ensured that the school has acquired a building which will serve its educational purpose, while also enhancing its surroundings for a long time to come.”
