The new Opera House stands in the grounds of West Horsley Place, a Grade I listed manor house which dates back to the fifteenth century. Our conception was a “theatre in the woods”, and through a door in a walled garden you find an enigmatic patterned brick drum standing amongst the trees. The opera house has a classic horseshoe form, with five tiers seating 750 people – a miniature La Scala. It was realised at minimal cost and remarkable speed - construction was completed in just 11 months.
